More Than A Case Manager – Yun Hui’s Journey of Warmth and Discovery

Yun Hui first joined SUN-DAC as a fresh graduate in 2022, stepping into a world that was completely new, from the unfamiliar environment to the faces she would soon grow to cherish. In those early days, it was the warmth and support of her colleagues that helped her find her footing, gently easing her into the SUN-DAC family and guiding her as she got to know the clients and some of their caregivers.

Over the past three years, her journey has been shaped by a tapestry of experiences, including heartwarming milestones, quiet triumphs, and moments of struggle that taught her resilience and empathy. One of the most meaningful aspects of this journey has been building trust with caregivers and walking alongside them in their caregiving path. What began as distant, cautious relationships slowly blossomed into bonds built on mutual understanding and support. There is something deeply moving about the moment a caregiver begins to open up, to share their worries, ask for advice, or simply reach out because they know someone is there to listen.

Being the bridge between clients, caregivers, and the care team has not always been easy. But it has been made lighter and more meaningful through the presence of dedicated trainers who go the extra mile. With their commitment and care, Yun Hui has learned what it means to advocate not just for the clients, but also for the unseen emotional labor of caregiving.

To those already in this field, or about to begin, she hopes they will always hold close the heart and purpose that first brought them here. There will be challenging days when patience runs thin and energy runs low. But may they always find a way to recharge, stay grounded, and remember why they chose this path.

She is especially grateful for the few colleagues who consistently go out of their way to look out for her through small acts of kindness or quiet words of encouragement. Their presence has made all the difference.
