Of Growth and Resilience – Han King’s Story of Confidence and Connection

Since joining SUN-DAC in 2017, Han King’s journey has been one of steady growth, heartwarming milestones, and meaningful connections. Among the many cherished memories, one stands out vividly — the moment Han King began listening to instructions and expressing his own views and needs. It was a small yet profound sign of his growing confidence and ability to connect with those around him.
Swimming sessions have been a special highlight for both Han King and his family. Beyond the joy of the activity itself, these moments reflected the care and encouragement from the SUN-DAC community. With the patient guidance of dedicated Training Officers, therapists, and social workers, swimming became more than exercise — it became a safe space for Han King to build skills, independence, and trust.
Over the years, SUN-DAC has played a vital role in enhancing Han King’s social interactions, mobility, awareness of his surroundings, and daily living skills — from eating and drinking, to simple but meaningful acts like packing his belongings or clearing his utensils after a meal.
Looking ahead, the hope is for SUN-DAC to continue growing alongside Han King through his adult years, creating and exploring programs that meet his needs at every stage of life. The family holds deep gratitude for the compassion, patience, and unwavering dedication of the SUN-DAC team — qualities that have made a lasting difference in Han King’s life.
This heartfelt story was shared by Mrs Low, Han King’s mother, from Upper Thomson – one of the many families whose lives has changed for the better with SUN-DAC.
