Finding Purpose Through Service: A Volunteer’s Journey with SUN-DAC

When See Bing first joined SUN-DAC as a board member in September 2023, she wasn’t sure what to expect. Still working at the time, she wanted to contribute to a meaningful cause – and found it through SUN-DAC’s mission of inclusion and care.
About six months later, after retiring, she found the opportunity to become even more involved with SUN-DAC’s activities. In 2025, she began volunteering with the SUN-DAC F45 weekly exercise program, guiding and cheering on SUN-DAC’s clients every Tuesday as they build strength and confidence through fitness.
Week after week, she has witnessed their progress – from small steps to strong strides – and discovered that the sessions are not just about exercise, but about connection, laughter, and shared growth.
One of her favourite memories? Watching Justin light up the room by playing his favourite Westlife songs, or seeing Faiza dance freely to the music during warm-ups. These moments of joy have reminded her that every act of inclusion creates ripples of happiness and belonging.
Volunteering with SUN-DAC has given her more than just a way to give back. It has given her purpose.
“Since retiring, I often struggled to introduce myself,” she shares. “But now, one of the things I say is that I volunteer at SUN-DAC.”
Her journey reflects the timeless words of Mahatma Gandhi:
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
