Keeping the Rhythm of Inclusion Alive

Roland joined SUN-DAC Bedok South on 1 June 2017, bringing with him a deep passion for helping others grow. Over the years, he has found countless moments of joy in his journey as a Training Officer, but one memory stands out above all: performing in a drum performance for former President Mdm Halimah Yacob at Gardens by the Bay.
“It was our first outdoor performance with beneficiaries,” Roland recalls with pride. “To perform for the President and showcase our beneficiaries’ talents to the public was truly unforgettable.”
What makes SUN-DAC special for Roland, however, goes beyond the big moments. It’s the everyday kindness that binds the community together. When he was hospitalised due to a migraine attack, his colleagues’ care and thoughtfulness deeply moved him. “They sent me a hamper and well wishes. It showed that SUN-DAC really cares for its staff. We look out for one another like family.”
These days, Roland’s favourite part of his work is conducting TicTag sessions with ageing beneficiaries, helping them navigate digital literacy in fun, interactive ways. Watching them gain confidence and independence reminds him why he loves what he does.
