“He Found His Place at SUN-DAC” – A Mother’s Story

My son joined SUN-DAC in 2023, shortly after graduating from Eden School. Transitions like this are never easy, especially for children with developmental needs—but from the moment he stepped into SUN-DAC, something clicked.
I’ll never forget how excited he was after his first trip to the Singapore Science Centre. He came home full of stories—about the interactive exhibits, the hands-on experiences, and the sense of wonder. It wasn’t just about science; it was about belonging.
What touches me most is how seen and celebrated he feels at SUN-DAC. The trainers and staff greet him warmly every morning, cheer him on for small wins, and even recognise him outside the classroom. These moments may seem ordinary, but to us, they’re everything.
He thrives on structure and movement, and SUN-DAC delivers just that.
On Mondays, he plays basketball. On Wednesdays, he dances. And Fridays are his favourite—a trip to the park, where he heads straight for the monkey bars with joy and confidence. These routines have become pillars of his week, and he looks forward to them with eagerness.
He often says he wants to grow up with SUN-DAC—and one day, contribute back to the centre. That’s the kind of hope SUN-DAC has instilled in him. He even talks about wanting more trainers to join— “trainers with heart,” as he puts it.
I’d like to extend a special thank you to Jackson and Preston, his first trainers. Your patience, understanding, and consistency helped him settle in and flourish. The impact you’ve made is lasting.
Today, SUN-DAC is more than a centre—it’s his second home. When it’s closed, he gets upset and makes sure everyone knows. And honestly, I understand why. For him, it’s not just about attending class—it’s about being part of a community that truly cares.
Thank you, SUN-DAC, for seeing our children not for their limitations, but for their potential.
This story was lovingly shared by Mrs Choy, Julian’s mother, from Upper Thomson—one of many families whose lives have been touched by SUN-DAC.
